Sedan: Best for Small Groups on Good Roads
A sedan such as a Dzire or Etios class car comfortably carries four passengers with moderate luggage. It works well on well-maintained highway routes like Gorakhpur to Ayodhya or Gorakhpur to Varanasi.
On winding hill roads a sedan can feel less stable than a higher vehicle, so it is better suited to flat routes and lighter luggage.
SUV: The Versatile Middle Option
An SUV such as an Ertiga or Innova class vehicle carries six or seven passengers and handles both highways and moderate hill routes. It is our most commonly recommended vehicle for Nepal border trips and Char Dham approach drives.
The higher ground clearance and steadier handling make a real difference on stretches like the winding road after Mugling toward Kathmandu.
Tempo Traveller: For Groups and Longer Trips
Once your group goes past seven or eight people, a Tempo Traveller keeps everyone together instead of splitting across cars. This matters for pilgrimages and family functions where travelling together is part of the experience.

Route-Specific Considerations
For the Char Dham circuit, an SUV is usually preferred over a sedan because of sustained hill driving across many days. For Nepal cross-border routes, either a sedan or an SUV works depending on group size, with the SUV more comfortable on the hill stretches.
For flat highway routes like Ayodhya or Varanasi, a sedan is perfectly adequate.
Luggage Is Often Overlooked
A family of four with big bags for a ten-day yatra may be better served by an SUV than by a sedan, purely for luggage space. Mention your bags when you enquire, not only the number of passengers.
